The No Gears fixie evening in Bristol was great. The event played out at the Cube cinema in Bristol this bank holiday Monday. Bikes, BBQ, brilliant movies & skid comp.
Everyone was also treated to a teasing trailer of BOIKZMOIND, which is set to be possibly the first true British made fixed gear movie.
Met some fab people, saw some sweet bikes, and generally enjoyed the vibe.
Hats off.

The really rather interesting Stan Peach has created the worlds only zig zag check as a limited and numbered poster and t-shirt. For us it was satisfying to print as it is a tight registering geometric 3 colour print, always fun. Not much is known about this man, but we know he believes in producing brilliant limited edition pieces. The motto on his website reads 'back in the day when shit was hand-made', we like this.

Any Forty X Mountain Biking UK

Ingenious clothing brand Any Forty have collaborated with bike magazine, Mountain Biking UK to bring you two great limited edition designs. They'll be laid down on a range of colourways to be printed on a tidy run of 2000. This project was pulled together to go on sale at Bike Radar LIVE, (the ultimate cycling festival) at Donington Park, in May, where MBUK has a strong presence. This is another great illustration of how Any Forty are going all out to become a name we can love and trust to give us cool collaborations and great design every time.

Bristol Design Festival Poster

Here is a sneak peak at the official poster for this year's Bristol Design Festival. Designed by the magnificent local designer Marc Bessant. This edition of 100, two colour screen prints will be signed and numbered and available throughout the festival. Who better to tell us about the thinking and doing behind the design of this piece than Marc himself "Originally created from a number of wood block prints and intended to be hung either landscape or portrait, its a pun on Bristol's most famous creator Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the man with the tall hat and short cigar responsible for umpteen modern marvels in-and-around the South West of this fair Isle..."

We printed some last minute T-shirts (and we do mean last minute) for Jaguar Skills, who was attending the recent Radio 1 Big Weekend. Showing nothing close to skills of a jaguar, but donning one dope t-shirt, was Chris Moyles on stage with Westwood (image courtesy of BBC Radio 1 Online). Well met that man.

Tunng tour posters

About a year ago we got to print some nice posters for Tunng, who had a tour at the time. This year we've had the opportunity to do so again, as Tunng are once again on the road. Artwork for this piece came courtesy of James Bates, and the edition was printed with real gold, smelted in-house. Tunng are touring right now, so go see them, making sure to pick up a lovely bit of print whilst you're there!

Art Blakey art print brings the jazz

Here's fun. Just got a request to reproduce this classic Bluenote Records album sleeve. Well actually we got to choose out of six, and this one rang our bell because it made for a really nice separation. Printed fine black bitmap, red spot for the text and then a translucent yellow wash with the type knocked out over the top. Nice.

Now we just need Mr Bluenote in LA to buy into it and place a freakin' huge order!

Fresh print for Yushy......

Yushy was formed originaly as an anonymous artist collective with a select and constantly fluctuating membership. Now just one artist works under the name. Yushy's high graphic, high humour (often dark, cutting edge) is starting to gain critical acclaim. Mauger Modern Art Gallery will be taking these one colour wonders to the Affordable art Fair later this month in Battersea.

No joke, the film for this print seemed loads bigger once outputted than it ever did on the monitor of our Mac! We had to customise a print board specifically for the job, and not one of us had the arm strength to pull a squeegee that wide ourselves. Anyway, two heads are better than one, as the saying goes, and it also turns out that four hands are considerably better than two. Still got white on black to print...
